In 1969, the construction of the central workshops in Ostrava-Martinovo was completed, continuing a long and successful tradition that began in 1894 with the start of operations in the Ostrava region as a key industrial centre. Ekova Electric was established in January 2011 as a 100% subsidiary of Dopravní podnik Ostrava a.s. by spinning off from it. Since July 2021, Ekova Electric has been part of the Škoda Group, and the company’s name was changed to Škoda Ekova.
